List Building Using Other Peoples Lists (Part 6, List Building Strategies)

One of the strongest forms of traffic you can get is referral traffic from someone else’s list.

There are several ways you can do this.

1) Arrange a swap with other web sites. When someone subscribes to your list, use the other person’s web site as the thank you page, and they will do the same for you. This has almost no cost to you or to them, and you both gain an extra subscriber.

2) Offer to mail another marketers’ offer to your email list if they will do the same for you. The recommendation of the other marketer (and yours for them) is extremely powerful. You see, your subscribers trust you. So when you recommend someone, they will opt-in. And the same for the reciprocal web site. Just remember this--your reputation is at stake. Make absolutely sure you approve of the other sites’ program or you may be sorry.

3) Offer to allow another marketer to give your product away for free to their email list. The only requirement is that the gift recipients must click through to your subscriber opt-in to receive the free gift. Now anyone on their list that receives the gift is now on your list.

Remember, you must also treat your new subscribers with respect---the reciprocal marketer has placed trust in you, in allowing you access to his list in this way.

Couple of pointers here: Never let someone mail your list directly. That is your list. Let them prepare the email copy and you email your list. They only get the names and email addresses of the ones that click through to their site. And the same goes for you.
